Looney Lunes #122

If This Senator Had Gotten His Way?

The guy from last week wouldn’t have looked so stupid.

“I am tired of this sort of thing called science. We have spent millions in that sort of thing for the last few years, and it is time it should be stopped.”

Senator Simon Cameron (R-Pennsylvania) opposing funds for the Smithsonian Institution in 1861. Another one of his great quotes;

“An honest politician is one who, when bought, stays bought.”

He was also a minister to Russia.

    1. PRS is alive and well. As happens, the real world takes over from time to time, and the last quarter has been one of those times for BOTH my across the pond writing collaborators.

  1. Now I understand what is meant by, “You can’t fix stupid.” Seems like it carries on, generation after generation, now more publicized with Fakebook and Twitties.

      1. I think we’ve reached that point in western capitalistic politics. I never smoked or did drugs of any kind, but now would be a great time to roll a joint, step out on the front porch, light up and inhale while waiting for the moon to rise. And then? Maybe even howl at it with a “Hound of the Baskervilles” voice.
